Today I met these two most beautiful people. I’ve never met two people so obviously in love. I have to say, it totally inspired me.

Mix that love with gorgeous evening light, some stunning NZ bush, and a baby bump.

Magic.

I can’t wait to meet the little one in a couple months for their newborn portraits, I’m fairly certain s/hes going to be stunning, and will be completely enveloped in love.

Ok so, apologies first, its taken my like 2 months to get this wedding blogged up. There were just too many special moments that I needed to share. Even this extensive post is heavily edited. I wish I could show you the whole thing. In fact I wish you could have been there.

Cerys and James were married just before Christmas at St Alban’s Church in Pauahatanui – one of the cutest little chapels I’ve seen yet. Cerys wore her hair in the same style that her mum wore on her wedding day. Her dress was custom made by a friend, with pieces of lace on the train from her mother’s wedding dress, the same lace that will eventually adorn the wedding dresses of her two sisters. The veil was her grandmothers. I came in to find Cerys in her childhood bedroom toned in pink and green – the colours of her bridesmaids dresses.

The details of this wedding were so thoroughly thought out, so sentimental and full of love. Every shot is full of meaning. I can’t tell you how much I love that.

Cerys is an old friend from school, so it was amazing for me to be there to witness her marrying her man – and its clear to everyone that she and James are deeply in love. When Cerys first changed into her wedding dress and put her veil into her hair, I don’t think any of us were dry-eyed. She looked so classic. So beautiful. She looked just like a bride.

They got me again in the church as Cerys choked up reciting her honest and true vows. Some comic relief followed with a brief dropping of the ring, which for me just completely and utterly enhanced the feeling of real genuine truth that pervaded the whole event.

Anyway, here is a story of the day. Their day. Starting with James and the boys getting ready…

Once dressed and ready we scooted over to St Alban’s Church for the wedding ceremony…

After the creative shoot we headed to Gear Homestead for the reception – to be greeted by a confetti serenade! (my kind of entrance!)

Thank you so much Cerys + James for having me along to photograph your special and heartfelt wedding day. I loved it so much. I hope you enjoy at least as much happiness for the rest of your marriage.

Louisa’s Nana and Pops came all the way from England to visit her for New Years. They were surprised with a Christmas gift voucher for beautiful family portraits with their adored granddaughter – what better present could there be!

Lou-Lou is a very serious 15 month old dolly who proved to be rather a tough nut to crack. She wasn’t very impressed by the five maniac adults bouncing around with nappies on our heads, whistling, mooing, singing, and acting like complete loonies for her amusement. But the few beautiful little grins that did pop out, were all the more adorable because she made us work for them!

Even though the session was purchased for Nana and Pops and Louisa, I pushed Mum and Dad into getting into a few snaps too, and I’m so glad I did! I couldn’t have asked for a more fun, loving, gorgeous family to spend time with on a gloriously un-Wellington-like sunny, windless day. Better still, my recommendation for gorgeous Brooklyn Central Park (my location crush) was accepted with open arms! Love that place. The perfect recipe, for perfect family portraits!
