I remember back when I was at school, I was ‘first in class’ in science or something. After prizegiving Mum told me about how her “heart was bursting with pride”.

We got to repay the feeling when Mum got her Masters last week. So proud.

Its been a while since I picked up my camera and took some photos just cos I felt like it. I’ve been quite busy this week, photographing firetrucks and kindergarten fundraisers, among other things. I went through a phase of shooting everyday. Everyday stuff. Mostly cats. I think I might get back into doing that. For today, enjoy these fuzzy faces.

There a lots of things I like about running a photography business. I get to do what I love and call it work. I get to stay up late designing things and making plans. I  get to meet beautiful people and document them, record them, for history. I get to cuddle widdle babies. I get to go to weddings every weekend, (and eat the food!)

One thing I really, really love though, is business cards.

This set is my 5th itteration in 2 years. I’m an addict. They are so sweet and small. And they remind me who I am, which is helpful. So having these little beauties turn up on my doorstep this morning pretty much made my day.

Thanks to Kerry + Michael, and baby Max for letting me disperse their mini mugs, you’re gorgeous.

I’m going to post some more about my brand redesign and transition over the next few weeks. But so you know, the wizard behind my super sweet PINK logo is Baly Gaudin. He is so clever.

I have been working really hard behind the scenes here getting great systems in place and building workflow processes that will work into the future.

Part of that has been reorganising my file back up system into something more manageable. I’ve deleted over 50 000 files, and copied hundreds of thousands of photos to different places. During this slow, boring process, I’ve had the chance to look back at some old sessions from the very start of my business in 2010. It has been a simultaneously horrifying and vindicating experience looking at how far I’ve come with my photography over the past two years.

I decided to put together a post after revisiting some of my forgotten favourites in photoshop. I’m fascinated by the idea that some of these kids are at school now, the babies are almost turning two. It seems just like yesterday that I met them. My eye, my style and my taste has changed so much since the beginning. Not to mention my technical skill with my camera and post production. I can only imagine what I’ll think of these in another two years time.

Enjoy some keepers from my first family portrait sessions in 2010. Rejuvenated, rediscovered, remembered. A little blast from the past.
