I have been visiting a bunch of my old little friends lately. It is so fun, and amazing to see them growing. I love it. One of the best bits of revisiting clients is getting to see my photos up and around their homes! The fantastically lovely Mum of these two has a superlative eye for style – and I absolutely love the white frames she choose for these little snaps from our first session. Looks awesome don’t you think?
I’ve just recently found myself a supplier for beautiful white frames like these – so get in on the action! And don’t be shy to go big! hehe.

I’ve been thinking about starting a personal project for a few months now. Whenever the weather turns grey I can’t seem to bring myself to shoot everyday, just for fun. So to get myself shooting I decided to work on a series of identical twins. I couldn’t have found a better pair to start with than these two cherubic one year olds – aren’t they just delectable!

family portrait photography wellington

I’ve photographed this dear family more times and I can count on one hand, and its always a joy. A full on, noisy, dive-into-the-blanket-that-looks-like-a-swimming-pool kind of joy. I last saw them when Baby Ben was just a brand new kitten back in January. Now at 7 months he has joined his big brother and sister in becoming the type of kid you just can’t help but love – full of giggles, a quick nap, then some more giggling. This looks like a pretty standard family portrait, I guess, but look closer: Brooke in in her ‘wedding dress’ and her lady shoes, big bro Adam is dressed “like Ben” in just his undies – I’m told this is a common state of attire, though more often than not the pants are optional. This is these guys. This family. They are frozen for a tiny fraction of time (like one 200th of a second), in amongst a crazy, full-on flurry of seconds that just just keep on coming, and keep on making them bigger and older and smarter and sweeter and funnier. Halfway through the shoot Brooke came over and gave me the biggest, huggiest of hugs, straight out of the blue. The ‘you rock’ kind of a hug. It was nice =) I’m so looking forward to seeing then again in a few months when I photograph the families at their playcentre fundraiser, and I’m still quietly holding out for the 4th baby… one day…

(more from this shoot later!)

I second shot this gorgeous wedding with Catherine Cattanach. I started again with Trevor, the groom, getting ready at The Wellesley in Wellington. I knew it was going to be a great day when Trevor described his wife-to-be with such sweetness and gushing comments – there is a whole heap of love between these two. The show almost derailed when a button fell of the groomsman’s waistcoat at the 11th hour, but some nimble handed stitching set us back on track. The ceremony took place at the Greek church in Hania Street – a beautiful venue. Made even more incredible by the thousands of rose petals lining the aisle. The details of the Trevera wedding were amazing, thought and symbols had been woven into every element. Trevor and Vera have overcome a lot of challenges together, and made sure that their guests were all treasured supporters. I’ve never seen such an emotional first dance, an amazing achievement for Vera who has mobility difficulties. There was hardly a dry eye in the house.

Thank you again to Catherine for having me along to another great wedding. And to Trevera, thank you for having me be a part of your special day, it was a great privilege.

I still have a few weekend dates available for this coming wedding season, so if you are getting married this summer be sure to get in touch – I would love to photograph your perfect day.
