Little Nolan is the elder brother of one of my foundation clients Victor who was only 3 months old the first time we met. He’s now 3 YEARS old and has gotten cuter and cuter with every passing month. Newborn Nolan was a total pro at his newborn portrait session, he was already snoozing when I arrived and I was able to move him and pose him without him waking.
This session was featured on Baby Berry
When Hannah + Elodie’s Mum first got in touch she told me that she urgently needed family portraits because god forbid something should ever happen to her, her daughters would have nothing to look at and remember her by. Mum and Dad both stoically avoid the camera through a belief that they are “unphotogenic”. I find this whole concept completely tragic and we set about fixing the situation immediately.
Conveniently the girls’ grandparents were also visiting from Europe so we managed to capture some precious portraits of the kids with their beloved grandparents too. Mum also mentioned before the shoot that the girls were ‘quite extroverted’ – well that was putting it lightly! I love a boisterous child, they are so much fun to photograph, their kids acting up or refusing to sit still at their portrait session is most parents nightmare, but for me it means so much more variety, and a lot more laughing! That said, as a shy kid myself, I love the quiet ones too!

Shortly after their wedding last year Anna + Nath fell pregnant with their second baby daughter. It was such a pleasure to return to their home and photograph the new arrival. Big sis Evelyn was quite the ordinary two-year-old and put us through the ringer a bit, but you can’t tell at all from the resulting images.
While I love shooting newborns on location at their family home, the challenges of turning up at unknown lighting situations carting a carload of baby guff isn’t always the easiest. I’ve just opened up my new studio in the Woolstore sharing with Jo Frances, so if you are looking for a newborn photographer I’d love to see you down on Thorndon Quay to meet your beautiful bundle.
Alice and Mike were married at the end of 2013, just before Christmas. I knew from our first meeting that their wedding day would be beautiful, but it surpassed my expectations! The Landing would have to be my favourite wedding venue in Wellington at present, I love the white walls of the main house, the vines in the reception room and the gorgeous gardens and paths around the property.
Alice’s wedding was simply styled with and effortless earthy chic feel, I love love loved her beautiful bouquets by Twig and Arrow, Rebecca Connor as always did a fantastic job of the make up, and the unique bridesmaids dresses were made by Amber Whitecliffe.
Thanks to my awesome assistant Ryan McCauley for his work on this beautiful wedding day – the shots of Mike getting ready and many others throughout are his work.
