There are some couples, and some wedding plans, that you just KNOW are going to be awesome. When I first spoke to Claire and she mentioned she was planning to grow all of the flowers herself, and all of the food, and that there would be an ice cream truck arriving for the kids… I KNEW I had to be there. So much camera candy, a girl could just flat out die.
The day itself surely lived up to the hype. Not only was the food grown on location and by friends, the wine was brewed by the groom and his dad, the flowers were AMAZING SO PRETTY I NEARLY CRIED GORGEOUS and there was a tree INSIDE the marquee. Add a bevy of ridiculously cute flower people, and two sensationally halarious and loved up humans tying the knot, and you can pretty much colour me happy.
Claire is a wedding caterer herself so she had a lot of ideas about how she wanted her wedding to go – and lots of ideas about how she didn’t want it to be! So instead of the normal wedding timeline, Claire hosted a full day of celebrations, where the photography did not run the show (oh the relief!) where my second shooter Charlotte and I were instructed to capture everything in doco style and stay firmly in the background – my favourite vantage point. I have SO MANY photos to share from this wedding, I don’t actually know how I’m going to manage it. This blog post is expected to grow and change over time – so check back again soon.

Baby Scott was the second little candidate in my new studio, another little pro, slept soundly (just like his daddy on my couch, hehe) and curled up beautifully. His only discretion was a rather effective top wrecking with a poop attack on his mummy the second after I called time. As we say in newborn photography: shit happens!
I absolutely love these portraits, especially the shots of Scott in his Daddy’s strong arms, he just looks so tiny and precious. Knowing how quickly he will grow and change I know what a gift it will be for this family to have these photos of him captured when he was so new.
My studio days are Friday, Sunday and Monday and I am booking up fast! – if you would like to secure yourself a newborn session flick me an email at hello@annamunrophotography.com

Precious little Zoe came along to help me test out my brand new studio. At 13 days young I could not have wished for a more perfect test subject. While beautiful of course, she also managed to sleep through her whole session, and has the auspicious title of my first ever newborn not to poop on my blankets! Success!
I absolutely LOVE the light in my studio – all natural light – and I could not be more thrilled with the images I am now able to create, and the relaxing experience I can now offer my newborn family clients. Zoe’s Mum got to have a little snooze while I snuggled her baby, and the cafe right outside the door is a great option for families with bigger kids while the posed newborn portraits are being taken.
I’m so excited about this next step for my business and can’t wait to see my photos continue to develop with this new resource. I feel like I can finally create the images I’ve always envisioned. I love to keep newborn photos soft and simple, neutral palette, not too much frou frou or decoration, just pure and simple baby. Beautiful family connections and the specialness and tinyness of these new humans.
I still shoot on location portraits for families, but all newborns will now be exclusively shot in the studio, as I just can’t offer such high quality results in homes. I think most mothers will agree that the effort of leaving the house in the first 5-10 days is well worth the effort when rewarded with such stunning portraits of their newborn baby. Just a reminder that I also offer free optional maternity mini sessions included in your newborn session fee, be sure to get in touch before your baby arrives to book your newborn session. Little branches is a sweet little B+B and wedding venue in Featherston, Wairarapa. It is an exclusive venue that only holds 5 weddings per year. Naturally it was essential that one of these bookings was held for the proprietor’s own daughter!
Amanda had planned her beautiful garden wedding to the hilt, with a plethora of adorable handmade details including embroidered gift bags for her bridesmaids, hand painted cake toppers, and meter upon meter of beautiful bunting. Unfortunately, despite all my good juju, and despite plonking the wedding date bang smack in the middle of summer, the weather Gods were not pleased on Amanda and James’ big day. The rain splashed down, and the wind threatened the take off with the marquee. It was all rather dire indeed. Luckily both bride and groom took it all in their stride, their families rallied to move the ceremony into the beautifully laid out marquee, and the ceremony was as poignant and powerful as it would have been out in the sunshine. James tried to explain away his tears at seeing his gorgeous bride coming down the aisle as tears at his disappointment on Amanda’s behalf that the wedding was not outside… sure buddy! hehe
The sneaky old sun then decided, after snaggling the ceremony plans, to pop out in full force for the portrait session. The night ended with some heartfelt speeches, tante tips to the singletons (must purchase pairs of animals stat!), and some wild moves on the dance floor. Despite the weather, an absolutely incredible day was had. Thank you so much Amanda + James for having me along to capture it all.
