Anna + Nath | Duck Creek Wedding photo Wellington

Anyone who has spent longer than five minutes in my presence will probably have heard about how much I love white walls. It might be because I am trapped inside a snot green rental flat (even the ceiling is green) or maybe I’ve spent too much time on Pinterest but, whatever the reason, I’m a big fan of white.
So when I walked into Anna’s sister’s house to photograph her getting ready, I just about had kittens.

Add to the white, a bunch of super cute flower children, including Anna and Nathan’s precious daughter Evelyn, the most gorgeous Voon dress I’ve ever seen, and my buddy Miranda Millen.

Way to make a photographer happy!
I got to the venue shortly before Anna did, and her fantastic sense of style was evident in the table layouts and little details that all tied together perfectly. I am so obsessed with DIY flower arrangements with that cottage-y feel – my favourite!

Unfortunately Anna’s gorgeous bouquet didn’t make it to the venue (I MIGHT have been responsible for that GULP) so she had to stop in at the supermarket on the way to pick up some substitutes, which ended up tying in perfectly – no one even knew.

The ceremony was simple and relaxed. One of the best moments was when one of the pageboys spotted a cicada on Nathan’s waistcoat, and stopped the proceedings to rescue it. Cute.

It was a gloriously hot sunny day out at Duck Creek in Pauahatanui. Anna and Nathan arranged croquet, cricket, petanque and other games for their guests to enjoy while I whisked them off for their bridal portraits. One of my favourite things about Duck Creek is the little pathway across the road that weaves through the inlet reserve – there are a million gorgeous spots for photos down there. We found a little paddock off to the side, and trusting me, Anna’s bravely scaled a farm fence to reach it, that was full of perfect light – shady but bright – gorgeous!

I didn’t get to stick around for dinner, which is a pity because I’ve eaten at Duck Creek before, and they put on a mighty fine spread, but I hear the rest of the wedding went swimmingly. For such a perfect couple, you wouldn’t expect anything less.

Without further a do, the photos: starting with the perfectly pinteresting getting ready…

I recommend looking at these images with this song playing for ultimate enjoyment!
